Which television should I buy?
With all the different types of TVs out there, it can be difficult to know which television to buy. Visions wants to make your decision as easy as possible, so we’ve put together a quick primer that will help you understand some of the terminology and narrow down your choice.
The LED TV has quickly become the new standard of flat-panel HDTVs. It is the lightest, most energy-efficient, and slimmest of the TV types. The LED TV works well in most lighting conditions, making it a great choice for either a brightly-lit living room or a dimly-lit basement.
Smart TVs give you the ability to access the internet directly through your TV. With the growing number of online platforms such as Netflix, Youtube, Facebook, Skype and more, Smart Televisions allow you to connect wirelessly to the services you love (either with WiFi built-in, or through an optional plug-in dongle), creating endless possibilities for interactive entertainment, right on your big screen.
3DTV represents the next development in HDTV technology. Not only do all 3DTVs play regular 2D content flawlessly, they also have the ability to show 3D content, bringing the image to life with amazing depth!
60Hz, 120Hz, 240Hz Televisions
LCD and LED TVs can have different refresh rates such as 60Hz, 120Hz, or 240Hz. This feature refers to the “speed” of the TV: how fast it can change the picture. 60Hz is the standard refresh rate for most TVs. 120Hz and 240Hz are enhanced refresh rates that reduce motion blur in high-speed scenes. To see how enhanced refresh rates look, ask for a demonstration at your local Visions Electronics.
And there you have it! If you need any further assistance in choosing the right TV for you, feel free to ask one of our product experts online or in-store.
